I have been taking a weight training class(muscle building) but I wanted to also know the best way to lose some body fat other than diets. Any exercises would work. I also wanted to know if when building muscle over fat, you just get bigger? I have gained about 8lbs of muscle in a little while and I just look bigger, not more fit. Any help would be appreciated.

i go to the gym 6 days a week and do 45 min of intense cardio and then i do weights for almost every part of my body. i’m almost to where i want to be i’ve already lost 20 lbs but i still have a good amount of body fat. i dont want to be buff..just thin and toned so how to i just burn fat as opposed to building muscle?

My ideal weight for myself in my current condition is about 178lbs or so, however, I have been told that doing cardio such as running is counter productive for muscle growth. Is this true and is it possible for me to maintain very low body fat while building muscle or is the extra weight just something I have to deal with for the meantime until I get the size I want?
