What supplements/routines work best for dropping weight and building muscle?

I’m finally trying to improve myself but I’m kind of at a loss as to how to get started. I’m 6′ 4” and weigh 264 lbs. I want to lose about 15 lbs. and also build muscle but I have no experience with using supplements. Could someone give me some advice? Also, I’d appreciate any suggestions as far as what kind of lifting routine works best for what I want to do. My main concerns are chest, arms, and abs. In other words, I’m tired of being embarassed to go outside without a shirt on. Any suggestions and advice would be welcome.

    Building muscle AND losing weight is difficult. Muscle weighs more than fat so you need to decide which one you want to do. If your main concern is how you look without a shirt (abs/core), any workout will do, just BE CONSISTENT! Running is good, definitely more productive through your abs that any lifting would be, but almost every workout sends some kind of excersise through your core. Be sure to drink lots of water as it is good to clean out your system and it will curb your appetite and make it easier for you to work out for longer periods of time. If you want to run seriously, take the meal plan from this question.
    Ignore the people who only use this site for free advertising. There is no magic formula or shortcut. You sound like you really want to work at it so you are a step ahead of the game. Don’t let others try and cheat you out of that.

    of course, you will need to develop a diet plan, like eating salads and whatnot. then you have to learn how to exercise regularly. protein shakes also helps

    The basic compound lifts would also look at body for the workout program it is very basic stuff but it works if you want to drop bodyfat.
