I’m finally trying to improve myself but I’m kind of at a loss as to how to get started. I’m 6′ 4” and weigh 264 lbs. I want to lose about 15 lbs. and also build muscle but I have no experience with using supplements. Could someone give me some advice? Also, I’d appreciate any suggestions as far as what kind of lifting routine works best for what I want to do. My main concerns are chest, arms, and abs. In other words, I’m tired of being embarassed to go outside without a shirt on. Any suggestions and advice would be welcome.

AG asked: Are carbs necessary to build muscle? I eat a lot of protein (200-300 grams a day) and plenty of “good” fats (flax seed, almonds, etc), but I probably only eat 100 grams a day of carbs.
I realize that in order to build muscle I have to eat enough total calories. So assuming that my overall caloric intake is high enough, will my relatively low carb intake hinder my muscle growth?
